EPAEB EXAMINATIONS - ODISSI

PRE-PRIMARY GRADE EXAMINATION
Any new entrant to this style who has been learning (0-1 years)can demonstrate very basics of Odissi so that they become acquainted with the syllabus and the step by step progression . This is more to inculcate and generate a gentle nudging into the syllabus

GRADE 1
By Grade 1 (approx. 1-2 years of training), candidates are expected to acquire a grounding in basic technique and an understanding of the learnt content. This will be assessed through the performance of a prepared dance sequence, which will include both nritta and abhinaya elements (a selection of foundation steps, commonly used hasta mudras, padabedas and use of facial expression as appropriate to this level).

GRADE 2
By Grade 2 (approx. 2-4 years of training), candidates are expected to acquire a grounding in basic technique and an understanding of the learnt content. This will be assessed through the performance of a prepared dance sequence, which will include both nritta and abhinaya elements (a selection of foundation steps, commonly used hasta mudras, padabedas and use of facial expression as appropriate to this level). Candidates should also be able to follow instructions to complete a simple creative exercise and answer questions relevant to their performance and the theory topics covered in their file.

GRADE 3
By Grade 3 (approx. 3-5 years of training), candidates are expected to hone their grounding in basic technique and an understanding of the learnt content.
